first off....let me qualify something.
lets keep this to modern day christians in civilized lands.. many on this board are non-believers, and there are quite a number of christians.....so we have a mix.. non believers feel they need to speak out concerning what they have come to understand regarding the bibles authenticity to believers because they feel these ones need to at least see the sceptical side so they can make an honest choice.. believers feel they need to speak out to others concerning what they have come to understand about salvation.
here's the deal..............if believers can live a happy, good, healthy life, and take this to the grave with them..........should a non-believer try to mess all that up.....or leave well enough alone?.

I agree that a person should respect others way of thinking without trying to convert them. I have no problem with Christian believeing what ever they like, just leave me alone but you know it goes both ways.

After several attempts, I found that in each situation I ended up feeling that everything was incredibly FAKE! Maybe I just don't have the Holy Spirit or whatever. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Maybe it's not my time. Or maybe a personal relationship with Jesus is a way to ease guilt/please parents/impress the other sex/feel good about yourself/feel justified in feeling superior. I can only imagine...
My experience is that all those emotions are all fake. Religion is for weak minded people that cannot accept reality. If you read up on the origins of Christianity you will find that the early Christians merged their Jesus stories with the early God man mythologies and that they destroyed/suppressed that knowledge for the last 2,000 years.

here is another paradox resulting from the wts stand on the flood:
1. jws seriously believe in 2370 bc as the date of the flood
2. they also believe that by the 1st century ad racial differences had been well developed (i mean differences in the outward appearance of course, and not their early racist views for instance).
In fact, the pyramids were built before the date of the flood - that's pretty good work for a nation that didn't even exist yet.
And the Sphinx is believe to be even older than the pyramids. The whole flood mythology has never made sense to me. I like the theory that the flood was a local event that at one time the Black Sea was a much smaller fresh water lake and that as the Mediterranean Ocean rose that all of a sudden the salt water rushed in causing a catastrophe of gigantic proportions. They claim there is evidence of a fresh water beach at the bottom of the Black Sea.

I agree I think it looks stupid to. It makes me think that the guy can't grow a proper beard, like the teenager that is trying to grow some facial hairs all patchy with one hair here and one hair over there. Either grow a proper one or shave it off.

she was extremely close to her son, now 13, up until she left.
I feel for her as I was in a similar situation about 10 years ago. My ex told my chidlren they couldn't have too much to do with me as I was DF'd. Things eventually have a ways of working out as they seen the religion for what it was and as they got older they didn't want anything to do with it. All the best to your friend.

I agree with you and I was just reading how US army officials have said that it could take upto 10 years to crush the insurgency in Iraq. Do the American people have the stomach's for 10 years of fighting someone else's war? You have already lost almost 1,000 young men and women. How do you now bow out gracefully and save face?
